Applications
You may install the following applications on your office or home PC. Do not attempt to install any of these on the lab-computers yourself. If you would like to have a particular application installed on the lab-computers (either for Linux or for Windows), please contact support staff. Unless indicated otherwise the applications below are intended to run on the Windows platform.
Freeware
Tool built in C# to check a common EEG filetype (EDF+) against a logged archive of stimuli. It allows for an action-chain configuration. Each action is then performed on pairs of files to repair, check, and/or fix the EDF+ files. Meant to work with EDF+ (European Data Format+) and Presentation-log files but has features that…
Program for recoding videos recorded in the Babylab or similar settings and easily exporting recorded data to a csv file. For more information on installing, see step 3 in the how to
ImageMagick. Tool for converting images into various formats. Installation instructions and versions for various operating systems are available here.
Mix and match. Another program to randomize lists. Capable of making multiple randomizations at a time, easier to install than Shuffle.
Perl. Programming/scripting language. Installation instructions and versions are available here.
Praat. Program for doing phonetics by computer.

Other
backup of required (unique PMD670.EDL) config files for CF recorder 1 & 2, in case it accidentally gets deleted. Must be placed in rootdir of internal SD card of the selected recorder.
The BioTrace software is used by the Nexus physiological-recording equipment to record data. A set of custom ‘Screens’ have been created by ILS personel and can be downloaded. In order to install the screens simply copy the UiL-OTS folder within the archive to the %install_directory%/Screens.
Proprietary software
The software in this category is available to ILS staff only, under a site license. Do not redistribute this software to others. Remove the application from your computer as soon as you are done with it. The software in this category is password-protected; contact the Lab Managers to obtain a password.
BV Analyzer. Analysis program for EEG data. Note: if you perform this installation on a solisPC, downloads will go to your Temp directory, and you can’t run installers from there. Pre/postprocessing for eye-tracking

Scripts

This praat script can determine the tempo of a speech fragment expressed in syllables per second, or as average time per syllable. It uses intensity information rather than manually coded syllable boundaries, saving a lot of time. Adapted from De Jong, N.H. & Wempe, T. (2009) by Hugo Quené
This script can be used to convert .mpg videos to .mp4. .mp4 can then be used to code looking times offline. Instructions on how to use this file (.sh) can be found in the recoding video’s how-to.
